Another trick I use is to follow the feed for "Bestsellers in Kindle Store" (http://www.amazon.com/rss/bestsellers/digital-text/154606011/ref=pd_ts_rss_link) because the free books often become, temporarily anyway, bestsellers so show up on that list that I can check daily.
